A Few Words
About Us
The mutual sharing of personal problems of a group of young girls during the skill development training classes of 1985 brought about the idea of formation of a group for social transformation. Indira Social Welfare Organisation (ISWO) was then born and was officially registered in the year 1989.
Now Indira Social Welfare Organisation (ISWO) is a non government, non-partisan and not for profit leading Women Organization operating in Odisha.We have been registered under ‘Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860’ Registration No. DKL. 2111/149 of 1989-90 dated 18th Oct, 1989. The organization is dedicated to women and child welfare with key strategies like understanding the factors that oppress women, child and weaker sections and attempting relentlessly at reversing the scenario. Our vision is to establish a proper social order where there is parity in all aspects; and no discrimination. Our mission is scaling up women empowerment by boosting self-confidence, safeguarding child & human rights, combating gender based violence and promoting livelihood.
OUR WINGS: At present along with its main unit,ISWO is also running a Child Care Institution named as,Biswa Kuntala Children’s home (BKCH) A Women support center (Surakhya Mahila Prakostha) at Old DPO Dhenkanal for proper counselling & rehabilitation of women survirors & “Ekata Vahini” Cultural team that aims to spread awareness & make social changes through Cultural Activities.These are our three major wings.

Volunteers
Apart from this remuneration based workforce, there are 150 Community Volunteers supporting our programs in urban slum pockets and villages who render their services without any remuneration or incentives; and all are stakeholders in team work.
Community groups in focus:
The organization is dedicated to women and child welfare with key strategies like understanding the factors that oppress women, child and weaker sections and attempting relentlessly at reversing the scenario.Along with it We focus in the development of Tribal groups like Kandha,juanga,Shabar,Munda etc alongside Dalits,Transgender and backward groups.
